Character Counter: Characters, Words & Sentences

This browser-based counter measures visible character clusters both with and without whitespace, plus estimated words, sentences and paragraphs. Use it to review a caption, heading, message or form entry.

Emoji and combined accents can contain multiple code points but appear as one visible character. The browser's segmentation rules and the destination platform may count text differently, so verify strict limits in the app where you will publish.

When is it useful?

  • Checking whether a short caption fits a platform's character limit.
  • Comparing the length and structure of two draft messages.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste a draft into the text field.
  2. Review character totals with and without whitespace, along with word, sentence and paragraph estimates.
  3. Check the final text in the destination app when an exact limit matters.

Example

Input: Check text with YulaTools.

Output: The counter shows visible characters with and without spaces, plus estimated words, sentences and paragraphs.

Who is it for?

  • Copywriters
  • Content teams working with platform limits
  • Editors checking short-form text

Privacy and limitations

Analysis runs in this browser and the input is not sent to a counting API.

Word and Character Counts: Why Different Tools Disagree

Frequently asked questions

Are spaces included?

The tool shows totals both with and without whitespace. Check the final copy in the destination platform when a strict limit applies.

How are emoji counted?

Where supported, the counter uses grapheme segmentation to count visible emoji clusters. A destination platform may apply different rules.

Why do two counters disagree?

Tools can split hyphens, apostrophes, URLs, line breaks and punctuation using different rules.

Is my text transmitted?

The counting step runs in the browser and does not send text to an API.
